Creative Director

We are looking for a curious and energetic leader to be our Creative Director.

It will be love at first sight if you are a storyteller who can motivate and mentor our designers and video editors to create great work, but also roll up your sleeves and take a hands-on approach as needed. We often work on quick deadlines for clients with tight budgets and are looking for someone who can deliver breakthrough creative and hit the ground running.

This is a leadership role, and you’ll be expected to set the creative direction for the firm and manage the design team, as well as organize and lead brainstorming sessions, contribute to client pitches and proposals, provide input on timelines and estimates, and keep us ahead of the curve as technologies and trends evolve. We’re a growing company and want someone who can help grow our creative team to the next level. This is a great opportunity for someone who enjoys exploring new design ideas and programs and then mentoring and teaching their teams about them in a fun and collaborative environment––all while helping to make the world a better place.

Our design team currently uses Sketch, Adobe Premiere, and Adobe After Effects.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Interest in social and political issues and strong desire to make a difference

  • Highly creative and innovative with a thorough understanding of core design principles 

  • 8+ years experience in video post-production, motion graphics, and digital creative

  • High level of proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite products

  • 3+ years’ experience in a senior / leadership role

  • Demonstrated team building and management skills

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Willingness to put in that extra time and effort: sometimes, we have to work longer days or on weekends, especially during campaign seasons.

  • You center diversity, equity and inclusion in your work.

  • Attention to detail

  • A strong understanding of brand strategy and can understand the look, feel & tone of a brand quickly.

  • Ability and desire to work in a very fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.

  • Please provide a link to your portfolio when applying. Digital experience is a requirement.

 

DESIRED

  • Experience in graphic design, web design, or illustration

  • An understanding of web development and experience working with developers

  • Proficiency in Spanish

  • High level proficiency in Sketch

  • Previous experience in political campaigns or political organization groups, such as PACs/c4s or nonprofit.

 

The Creative Director is full time. You will be expected to work a typical 9am – 6pm workday, Monday through Friday each week. We have flexible work from home policies but we have a preference for applicants located in the DMV for this position.
