Job Description
We are looking for a Web Developer to join our firm for the 2026 election cycle. This is a contract role that ends on November 30th, 2026 with the potential for a permanent role at the end of the term.
We’re looking for a bright, curious, analytical mind who thinks critically and takes initiative to anticipate and solve problems. If you love politics, have strong writing and analytical skills, are an expert multitasker and enjoy working as part of a team, we want to hear from you!
As a part of our team you would
- Build and maintain custom WordPress themes and plugins using ACF, REST API, and modern PHP best practices
- Create dynamic, responsive front-end interfaces using HTML5 and JavaScript
- Develop and maintain data-driven web applications and API integrations using Django or Laravel, connecting with MySQL, BigQuery, and third-party services such as Google, Meta, Mailchimp, AWS, and Slack.
- Collaborate with designers, content strategists, and data teams to translate concepts into functional, performant digital experiences
- Optimize sites for speed, accessibility, and SEO, ensuring cross-browser and cross-device performance
- Prototype and document new internal tools, automations, and workflows that improve team efficiency
- Manage hosting, deployment, and SSL/redirect configurations across multiple environments (GoDaddy, Pantheon, Cloudflare, AWS, etc.)
You would be a great fit if you have
- Have 2-3 years of experience in full-stack or web development
- Can share a portfolio or GitHub showcasing custom websites, tools, or integrations you’ve built
- Are confident hand-coding HTML, CSS/SCSS, and JavaScript to create accessible, responsive, and performant interfaces
- Have strong experience developing with PHP (especially within WordPress) and working knowledge of Python and JavaScript
- Are comfortable building, extending, and debugging CMS platforms like WordPress, including custom themes, plugins, and REST API endpoints
- Know your way around modern JS frameworks (React, Vue, or jQuery) and can pick up new tools quickly
- Understand relational databases, caching, and general web application architecture
- Can build cross-browser and cross-device compatible experiences with an eye for speed, accessibility, and maintainability
- Are comfortable using Git, terminal commands, and Docker-based environments
- Communicate clearly, collaborate effectively across teams, and manage multiple priorities gracefully
- Have exceptional attention to detail and a sense of ownership over your work
- Are flexible and willing to go the extra mile during high-priority campaign pushes
Additional Experience That’s a Plus:
- Experience with Django or other Python-based frameworks
- Familiarity with Google Cloud (BigQuery, Cloud Storage) or AWS for hosting, automation, or data handling
- Contributions to open-source projects (GitHub, WordPress.org, Drupal.org, Stack Overflow, etc.)
- Comfort using the terminal, Git, and modern dev workflows
- Understanding of REST APIs, webhooks, and API-based integrations
- Experience with Docker, containerized environments, or CI/CD pipelines
- Working knowledge of AWS
Salary and Benefits
The salary band for this position is $65,000-$70,000 per year, prorated for the duration of employment. In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable.
