Junior Web Developer- Cycle Position

We are looking for a Junior Web Developer to join our firm through the remainder of the 2024 election cycle. This is a contract role that goes through November 30th, with the potential for a permanent role at the end of the term. 

As a part of our team, you would: 

• Work under supervision and independently on front-end and back-end development, primarily using Drupal and WordPress

• Develop custom tools and platforms that integrate with APIs from Facebook, Twitter, Box, Google, and more

• Create clean, easily navigable, and search-engine-friendly online projects of varying complexity

• Collaborate with the team to develop innovative and optimized solutions to our client's needs

• Work with our team to implement design elements from concept to completion of the project

• Help maintain and support a variety of web properties

• Implement responsive designs

• Prototype tools to expand company offerings and efficiency

You’d be a great fit if you have:  

• An interest in learning new things. The digital world is constantly changing, so we frequently test new strategies and tactics.

• BS/BA degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience

• Solid HTML hand-coding skills with the ability to build clean, functional, optimized web pages and user interfaces

• Working knowledge of PHP and MYSQL

• Familiarity with modern open-source content management systems like Drupal and WordPress

• Knowledge of AJAX and javascript frameworks like jQuery, React, AngularJS, etc.

• Adequate knowledge of relational database systems and web application development

• Ability to build cross-browser compatible websites

• Superior organization and time management skills.

• Strong communication skills and a preference for working in teams.

• Extraordinary attention to detail.

• Willingness to put in that extra time and effort: sometimes, we have to work longer days or on weekends, especially during campaign seasons.

• Bonuses, but not required 

  • Experience with MVC frameworks

  • Knowledge of version control systems like GIT.

  • Contribution to developer community websites like Stack Exchange, Drupal.org or Github.

  • Knowledge of Drush and its use cases.

  • Basic knowledge of REST APIs.

  • Working knowledge of Amazon Web Services

Salary & Benefits

The salary band for this position is $60,000 - $65,000  per year, prorated for the duration of employment. In order to counter pay inequality and uphold internal parity, salaries are non-negotiable.
